On March 22-25, 2018 the annual conference of the Asia-Pacific Quality Network “Capacity Building for Next Generation Quality Assurance in Higher Education” was held in Nagpur, India. It was organized on the basis of Dhanwate National College and Shri Shivaji Education Society Amravati’s Science College.

More than 100 delegates from 21 countries, representatives of expert, accreditation and educational institutions of the Asia-Pacific Region, took part in the conference. Two Russian organizations – the National Centre for Public Accreditation and the Certification Association “Russian Register” – participated in it.
The host party, Jianxin Zhang (China), current APQN President and Jagannath Patil (India), Past President and Deputy Director of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, opened the first day of the conference with a welcome speech.
The following issues were considered at the Conference: capacity building for accreditation agencies of quality assurance in the region and the world, development of the world-class universities and assessment of their activities, development of institutional and programme accreditation, assessment and recognition of higher education quality, development strategies of quality assurance in the European and Asia-Pacific Area, promotion and development of international, regional and national system of quality assurance in higher education, effectiveness and role of programme and institutional accreditation, development of new trends of global education and new possibilities for international integration of higher education institutions.

G. Motova, Deputy Director of NCPA, was a moderator of the section «Capacity Building for Information and Transnational Education». She shared the experience of the Russian participation in international educational projects, carrying out joint accreditation procedures with the leading agencies of Taiwan, the People’s Republic of China and Europe.

O. Matveeva, Deputy Head of the Accreditation Office, gave a report on development of institutional and professional accreditation in Russia.
Reports on activities of APQN President and the Secretariat, plan of action and the main areas of the Network activities in 2018 were presented at the Conference. The next APQN conference will be held in Sri Lanka.
