International scientific and practical conference “Lessons of multidimensional rankings in Russian HEIs: from approbation to practice” was held in Moscow on April 25-26, 2013.

The conference was attended by well-known experts from Germany, Netherlands, Great Britain, Poland, Ukraine and Kazakhstan, members of the International Ranking Expert Group (IREG) as well as representatives of HEIs.

Professor Vladimir Navodnov, Director of NCPA and professor Galina Motova, Deputy Director of NCPA, conducted plenary meetings of the conference.

Plenary meetings and round table discussions were focused on the following issues:

1. Results of the approbation of multidimensional rankings model methodology.

2. Role of international academic rankings in the development of comparative studies and higher education systems evaluation on a global basis.

3. The possibility of using academic rankings for management in the sphere of higher education and institutional changes in different national contexts.

4. Multidimensional rankings in the context of the demands of wide target audience.

5. Visualization of the results and creation of the information resource of the national HEIs multidimensional rankings system.

6. Guidelines for using multidimensional rankings methodology for various stakeholders.

Following the conference the conclusions and guidelines concerning multidimensional rankings methodology of Russian HEIs were prepared for Russian authorities in the sphere of higher education, international expert community, stakeholders and the general public.
