Conference 2012

The III All-Russian Scientific Conference «Assessment of Students' Competences and Learning Outcomes in accordance with the Federal Educational Standards» was held on 29-30 March 2012 in Moscow.

The Conference was organized by the Coordinating Board of Teaching and Methodological Association and Science and Methodological Board of Russian Federation, the Guild of Experts in the field of professional education, Russian University of Economics named after G.V.Plekhanov, Research Institute for monitoring of the quality of education, Training and Advisory Centre (Yoshkar-Ola).

The conference brought together more than 130 representatives of the academic community, among them Rectors and Vice-Rectors, experts in the field of professional education and Teaching and Methodological Association chairmen (by area of professional education).

Currently, there is still no clear answer to questions about the assessment methods of students'competences and learning outcomes in accordance with the requirements of the Federal Educational Standards. There is no unanimity of views on the development of educational materials for measuring and assessing of the competences and problems of competence assessment within the requirements of the Federal Educational Standards.

This conference has become a kind of navigator to find answers to questions such as:

• novelty and continuity of traditional and competence-based approaches to learning outcomes;

• technology development of teaching materials for the measurement of learning outcomes assessment in the framework of competence-based approach;

• the development of the project "Federal Internet-exam: competence-based approach";

• analysis of students' performance at various stages of learning within the competence-based approach.

Conference participants had the opportunity to discuss these issues and share experience during work sessions and round table.
