APQN Conference 2011

The Annual Asia-Pacific Quality Network Conference (APQN)

The APQN 2011 Conference was held in Bangalore, India from 2-4 March 2011 and was hosted by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The main theme of the Conference was “Quality Assurance in Higher Education: Expectations and Achievements”.

The conference was attended by more than 400 delegates, including about 70 participants from APQN member agencies and overall 38 countries and territories represented.

More than 60 speakers presented papers in parallel sessions and 60 others contributed to the poster presentations on various sub themes including:

Quality Assurance and Diversity of Higher Education systems

Issues of Quality and Access in Higher Education

Multiple QA Agencies: Prospects and Problems

QA Cycles and Building on Successive Cycles

Ensuring Synergy Between Internal and External QA

QA of Cross-border Higher Education

Dr. Antony Stella, elected to the position of APQN President for the period from 2011-2013, presented a report on the present situation and the APQN prospects. Dr. David Woodhouse, President of the International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education (INQAAHE), delivered a keynote on Mutual Recognition emphasizing the need for continued cooperation in the region.

The APQN Annual General Meeting was also held during the conference. The members came to the conclusion that the APQN activity in 2010 was effective and full of significant events and projects.
